I have never been into shounen ai/yaoi doujinshi, but I've been a fan of Datemaki's work since they started doing Bleach doujinshi. And although it says on the cover "Kakashi x Naruto", I found that there wasn't anything at all that screamed or even hinted KakaNaru. Romantically, I mean. So for me, this doujinshi and probably most of Datemaki's Naruto doujinshi will be enjoyed for their amazing art.
Other characters appearing in this doujinshi are Sasuke, Itachi, and Kabuto.

At 14 pages, this doujinshi by datemaki has got to be one of the smallest doujinshi I own. What is interesting about this book is that I think when the doujinshi was printed, the printer messed up the binding. You can't tell from the scan, but the English lettering on the cover on the left is upside down. So I'm not even sure if the left scan is the front cover at all. I scanned it this way because when I open the doujinshi itself, that is how the pages are ordered on the inside.
I mean, I could be completely wrong, and I would actually like to know if I am, so I can correct this, but hey, regardless, I love datemaki's art. There's a rawness to it, and the detail is amazing. This doujinshi especially feels half-finished, but I like the sketchy look of the art inside.

Weighing in at a whopping 390+ pages, Renka is my fattest doujinshi to date. And seeing as how this is the second reprint of Datemaki's, I am now officially on the search for the first reprint collection. I don't even have a clue as to what it looks like, but I want it.
Known to be a circle that has a very similar look to Kishimoto's actual drawing style, Datemaki has shown a consistency in their art throughout the years, and this reprint does a great job at showcasing that. On one of the last few pages has a timeline of when the books previously mentioned were originally printed, and when browsing through the pages, you're hit yet again with the quality and attention to detail Datemaki has. Each page does an excellent job of balancing white space. Use of screentones is kept to a minimum, but it hardly detracts when the actual art itself is so well done. Each panel is placed in a way that makes your eye move, and I love how different angles and perspectives are shown.
Definitely a great buy if you're a fan of Datemaki's work, and worth the price considering some of the doujinshi reprinted are either long gone or really rare.

One of the rarer Naruto doujinshi by Datemaki, Sasa centres around the fight between Gaara and Deidara.
